Travis Gawryletz
Born in Trail in 1985, Travis’s hockey development closely followed his older brother, as he moved through the Greater Trail Minor Hockey program, bringing home a coveted Pee Wee provincial championship in 1998.
He moved up to spend the 2001-02 season with the Beaver Valley Nighthawks, followed by two seasons with the Trail Junior Smoke Eaters.
In 2004, Travis was drafted to the NHL by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 8th round. He played collegiate hockey for the University of Minnesota-Duluth for four years.
He moved to the Eastern Coast Hockey League following university to play with the Elmira Jackals and from there made his American Hockey League debut with the Lake Erie Monsters in the 2010-11 season. He then moved across the globe to represent three different Czech clubs, then the Austrian Hockey League. He returned to Canada in the fall of 2013 to rejoin the Eastern Coast Hockey League, retiring soon after.
As an official, Travis served three seasons in the Western Hockey League, before moving to the AHL in 2017. He officiated his first NHL game on November 8, 2017. Games he’s officiated now totals over 500.
Travis and his wife Lori now reside in Colorado with their son, Roman.
Travis and brother Brandon are the first professional sports officials to be inducted to the Home of Champions. The brothers now join the ranks of esteemed Trail siblings like the Stones, the Haleys, the Kobluks, and the Bays. They were inducted in 2025.
