The Sports Hall of Memories was established in 1979 by Allan Tognotti to recognize persons and teams from the City of Trail who have excelled in their chosen sport or have made a significant contribution to the advancement of amateur or professional sport in our community, provincially, as well as nationally or internationally.

The Hall of Memories consists of a series of displays in the Trail Memorial Centre where you are now standing, and an archival collection housed in City Hall at 1394 Pine Avenue in downtown Trail.

This kiosk is designed to enhance your experience of the Hall of Memories and expand your knowledge of Trail's sporting history. The displays are changed periodically to present different aspects of our sports history.

We welcome donations of information, photos and Trail - related sports memorabilia to the collection.

Please help us celebrate our sports heritage and promote sports excellence in our community.

Donations of sporting equipment, photographs and other memorabilia relating to sports in Trail are gratefully accepted. Please contact the Trail Historical Society at 250-364-0829 or history@trail.ca

Collection Policy

The purpose of the Sports Hall of Memories is to collect, preserve and make available to the public, records and memorabilia of Trail's sports history and to display these records and memorabilia in a series of exhibits in the Trail Memorial Centre.

While some exhibits may be long term, none shall be considered permanent. The exhibits may be changed on a regular basis in order to acknowledge a wide spectrum of Trail's sports history.

The display of trophies and items related to current or recent sports activities or organizations shall be kept to a minimum. Further, the emphasis of the exhibits shall be on depicting Trail's sports history rather than providing a storage place for trophies and other items.

The final responsibility for what is contained in the exhibits and when specific items are displayed rests solely with the Trail Historical Society.
